Asansol is not a city people usually associate with interior design studios coming in from outside, and right, that is exactly what makes working here interesting for us. The city has real land, real independent houses, and a homeowner who has thought carefully about what they want because they have watched the city grow around them for decades. When someone from Asansol calls us, they are not looking for a showroom replica, they are looking for a home that fits a plot on or near GT Road, that works with their family's actual daily rhythm, and that holds up well in a climate that is hotter and drier than coastal Bengal.

Most of what we see in Asansol is independent ground-up construction, which is honestly the kind of work our studio enjoys most because the brief is entirely ours to shape from the foundation upward. There are emerging apartment projects coming in too, especially near the station corridor, and the brief there shifts toward space-saving layouts and modular solutions. In either case, the plots here tend to be generous by Kolkata standards, so we get to plan for a proper entrance, a parking bay, and natural airflow in a way that a city flat simply does not allow.

Asansol sits further inland than Kolkata, so the summer heat is sharper and the humidity, though still present in monsoon, comes in shorter bursts rather than the long coastal dampness we plan against in the city. We factor in cross-ventilation early, orient living spaces to catch the morning light from the east, and choose materials that do not warp or blister through a Paschim Bardhaman summer. For apartment projects we check the local municipal norms and any society rules before finalising the layout. Access for material delivery is generally simpler here than central Kolkata, which keeps the construction timeline a little more predictable.
