Barasat is a place we have been working in for a while now, and what strikes us every time is that it sits right at that interesting edge where a functioning district headquarters town still has room for serious residential architecture. People here are not buying a 650-square-foot box in a 40-storey tower. They are building homes on their own plots, or picking up flats in the newer complexes coming up around Kolony More and beyond, and they want those homes to actually feel thought-through, not just finished quickly and handed over. That is exactly the kind of brief we like.

The housing stock in Barasat is honestly more varied than people outside the area expect. You have older independent plots where families have been sitting on land for decades and are now ready to build properly, and then you have the emerging apartment complexes that are filling in the gaps as the town grows. Both need different thinking. A plot gives us full freedom over orientation, levels, and structure, while a flat within a society needs us to work intelligently within what is already fixed, and we are equally comfortable doing both.

Kolkata's humidity hits Barasat just as hard as anywhere else, so we always think about cross-ventilation from the early plan stage rather than treating it as an afterthought. Monsoon waterproofing on terraces, proper drainage slopes, and material choices that hold up over years of damp-dry cycles are non-negotiable for us here. Plot-level projects in Barasat also mean we need to check setback rules and local municipal requirements carefully before we fix anything on paper. Access for material delivery can occasionally be tight in the older lanes, so we factor that into scheduling too.

A local studio for Barasat
Our studio is in New Town, which means Barasat is genuinely close for us, not a distant outreach project we are doing reluctantly. We have worked across North 24 Parganas enough to understand local contractor networks, material availability, and how the approvals process tends to move here. And because we are a full-service studio doing architecture, interiors, and 3D visualization under one roof, a Barasat homeowner does not need to coordinate three different people to get one house done.

Yes, that is actually one of our core services. We do full ground-up residential architecture, which means we handle the design, structural coordination, material selection, and interior fit-out together. For a Barasat plot we would start with a site visit to check orientation and any local setback rules before anything else goes on paper.
We have been incorporating Vastu considerations into residential projects since the beginning, so it is not something we treat as an obstacle. Basically, we work through the room orientations, entry placement, and kitchen and pooja positions alongside the design itself, rather than retrofitting Vastu at the end when it causes more compromises than it solves.
To be very honest, yes, especially because newer complexes here often hand over a bare shell that needs everything from flooring to kitchen fit-out. We have done several apartment interiors in North 24 Parganas and the right planning for storage, light, and material durability makes a real difference to how liveable the space actually ends up being.
