Behala is one of those parts of Kolkata that has always had its own rhythm, and working here over the years has made us understand that rhythm pretty well. The area runs from old, settled family neighbourhoods with large independent houses all the way to brand new flat complexes near Behala Chowrasta and Diamond Plaza, so no two projects are quite alike. What we find is that homeowners here are practical, they know what they want, and they are done with vague promises. That suits us fine because we are a studio that works from actual drawings and actual site visits, not from mood boards alone.

Behala has two very distinct housing personalities, and both come to us regularly. On one side are the independent houses, often multi-generational, where the ask is usually a full renovation or a ground-up redesign that still respects how the family has always used the space. On the other side are the new apartment blocks going up across the south-west belt, fresh possession, blank walls, and owners who want to get the interiors right before they move in rather than after, which is honestly the smarter way to do it.
What we plan for here
Kolkata humidity is not something you can ignore in Behala, especially in homes that face west or sit on lower floors where ventilation is already limited, so we design with materials and finishes that actually hold up through monsoon after monsoon rather than just looking good in photographs. Plot setbacks and FAR rules matter a great deal for the independent houses here, and for apartment projects we work within whatever the society or the builder has laid out. Access for material delivery along the busier stretches near Behala Chowrasta needs to be factored into the construction schedule as well.

A local studio for Behala
Our studio is in New Town, which puts us genuinely close to Behala without the long cross-city travel that eats into site visit time. We have worked across South Kolkata long enough to know the local contractors, the material suppliers, and the practical constraints that come with this part of the city. To be very honest, that proximity means we can actually show up when something needs a decision on site, and for a home project that makes a real difference.

We start with a proper measured survey of the existing structure because in older Behala houses the actual dimensions almost never match whatever drawing exists or whatever the owner remembers. Once we have that, we sit with the family and understand how each part of the house is actually used daily, and the design comes out of that conversation rather than out of a catalogue.
Yes, that is basically our complete interior package and it is what most of our Behala apartment clients come to us for. We coordinate the civil work, the electrical and plumbing changes, the false ceiling, the kitchen, the wardrobes, and the furniture so that you are not managing five different vendors on your own during what is already a stressful time.
We take Vastu seriously as a genuine design input, not as an afterthought. We work it into the layout planning from the very beginning, which is when it can actually be incorporated without awkward compromises later. Most of the time good Vastu principles and good design logic overlap more than people expect, so it rarely means sacrificing the spaces you want.
