Before anything gets buried under screed, we flood test the membrane, ponding roughly 50mm of water across the whole terrace for 48 to 72 hours and checking the ceiling below for any damp patch, because this is the one point in construction where a pinhole puncture is still cheap to fix rather than a demolition job two years later. Choosing a Tile That Can Live Outdoors in Kolkata

Expansion Joints, Skirting, and the Details Everyone Skips
Two details separate a terrace that lasts fifteen years from one that leaks within three, and both are easy to skip because they are invisible once the job looks finished. First, we cut movement or expansion joints into the screed and tile every 3 to 3.6 metres and fill them with a flexible polysulphide sealant rather than rigid grout, because a slab that expands and contracts across Kolkata's temperature swings without a release joint will crack the tile along an uncontrolled line instead.
