In both cases what we do is sit with the actual floor plan, understand what the family actually uses versus what they think they need, and then design around that reality rather than a showroom idea of how an interior should look.
What we plan for
Kolkata's humidity and the monsoon are real considerations in this part of the city, so we think carefully about materials that handle moisture without looking beaten up within two seasons. Natural light is often limited in the middle floors of these rebuilt structures, so we plan ceiling heights, surface finishes, and window treatments to work with whatever light is coming in rather than fighting it. Plot coverage in older Dum Dum layouts can be high, which means cross-ventilation needs deliberate planning. Access for material delivery through these older lanes is something we factor into the build schedule from the beginning.
